Payam Eliahoo, PhD is a biomedical/electrical engineer with over 25 years of experience driving innovation in medical device development. He specializes in RF and ultrasound technologies, miniaturized low-power and flexible electronics, active implantable devices, catheter-based imaging solutions, and wearable devices. His technical background includes the design of high-frequency phased-array transducers, advanced circuit and PCB design, and compliance with international safety and performance standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 62366, IEC 62133 and ISO 14708. His work has contributed to novel diagnostic and therapeutic devices, supported by patents, peer-reviewed publications, and successful product launches. In addition to his technical expertise, Dr. Eliahoo is recognized for his cross-functional leadership, guiding multidisciplinary teams of engineers, clinicians, and regulatory specialists through all phases of product development. He is experienced in aligning complex engineering efforts with clinical needs and regulatory pathways, ensuring projects progress efficiently from concept through verification, validation, and FDA submission. Jeff Pielemeier is a seasoned Quality and Regulatory professional with 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. He specializes in establishing nimble yet compliant Quality Management Systems (QMS) for device startups, ensuring adherence to both U.S. and international regulatory requirements and acts as fractional quality manager when needed. In a product design environment, he guides teams through critical processes like Design Controls and Risk Management. This support is vital for preparing regulatory submissions, including 510(k) applications and CE Mark applications. His expertise also includes navigating complex standards such as IEC 60601-1 series (Safety, EMC and related), ISO 14971 (Risk Management), ISO 13485 (Quality Management Systems). This allows startups to expedite product development while maintaining compliance. As a certified biomedical auditor, Jeff offers internal and supplier audit services. He has a proven track record of leading successful verification and validation programs that are essential for regulatory filings. Jeff's core philosophy is that early and proactive involvement of Quality can save startups significant time, money, and stress. By integrating quality processes from the outset, companies can avoid costly redesigns and re-testing later in the development cycle. Her career spans aerospace, biomedical, and AI-driven embedded systems: at Radioson Corporation, she developed advanced prototypes combining physiological monitoring, microfluidic assay control, and Edge AI deployment on STM32 microcontrollers, achieving real-time anomaly detection and calibration. Previously at Northrop Grumman, she designed and implemented automated test frameworks for avionics subsystems, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards like DO-178C and MIL-STD. Her background also includes modeling RF systems at Booz Allen Hamilton and biomedical device prototyping in academic research.
